Mark McCleod, a local business man, has voluntarily cleaned filthy road signs in and around Comber in his own time. Mark explained, “I had noticed how dirty all the roads signs were on the entrances into Comber. I have just started my new cleaning business, MM Cleaning Specialists, and decided to clean a few of the signs on my way home from a job. Since I posted a few ‘before and after’ photographs on Facebook, I have had a huge response from local people who have thanked me for my community service.”
MM Cleaning Specialists is the newest business to join Comber Chamber of Commerce. Alderman Deborah Girvan, Chairperson of Comber Chamber of Commerce said, “We are delighted that Mark has decided to join the Chamber and wish him every success in his new venture. People think that the Council is responsible for cleaning road signs but the responsibility lies with the Department of Infrastructure. This government department should be ensuring that road signs around Northern Ireland are maintained and kept clean. It is a shameful that members of the local community are driven to cleaning road signs because Roads Service do not deliver this necessary service on a regular basis.”
