Comber Chamber of Commerce linked up with Comber Rotary Club to deliver 100 Easter Eggs to elderly residents of Comber who have been shielding during the pandemic. The volunteers gathered in the patio area of No 14 Georgian House, Comber, to assemble the bags which contained an Easter Egg and a chocolate biscuit which had been kindly donated by Connoisseurs Bakery.
Alderman Deborah Girvan, Chairwoman of Comber Chamber of Commerce, said, “ Following the success of delivering Christmas dinners to elderly residents who had been identified by local churches, community leaders and retail shops in the town, the CCC management team agreed to use funds to buy Easter Eggs to thank our older citizens for supporting local businesses during the pandemic and also to bring some joy and happiness into their lives. I helped to deliver the Easter treats and I was humbled by the response of some of the recipients. Many had been shielding since last year and were surprised and delighted to receive an Easter gift and know that they are not alone and are valuable members of our community.
I would like to extend our thanks to Connoisseur Bakery for supplying the biscuits, Jim Mulholland of No 14 Georgian House for allowing us to use his patio to assemble the gifts and for providing coffee and scones for the volunteers, and members of Comber Rotary for delivering the Easter treats.”
