At a recent Extraordinary General Meeting of the Comber Chamber of Commerce (CCC), a new Management Committee was elected to oversee the business of the Chamber.  Alderman Deborah Girvan, who was elected Chairperson said, “With the impact that Covid-19 was having on the local economy and Christmas fast approaching, it was important that new members joined the committee to ensure that Comber businesses continued to work together to enhance the commercial and community development of the town.  At the request of some of the businesses in the town, I set up an online Zoom meeting and invited CCC members to attend.   I was delighted at the interest and turn out and the following members were elected to the Management Committee

  • Chairperson: Deborah Girvan, Comber Farmers’ Market
  • Co-Vice Chairs: Tracey Burrows, Floral Creations and Martin Craigs, Karakal Productions
  • Treasurer: Peter Bond, PMB Accountants
  • Secretary: Hilary West, Rapid Read
  • Committee Members: William Wylie, Comber Pharmacy; Fiona McAlpin, Signlines: Eileen Milligan,  Penrhyn Photography; Iris McBride, McBride’s on the Square; Sharon Eadie, Getaway Travel; and Mark Kravetz, Bathville Books

I accepted the position of Chairperson on the understanding that this would be of a temporary nature until we got the new committee up and running.  Since the new committee was formed, I am delighted to report that we have gained 20 new members.  We are already making great plans for Christmas in Comber and hope that local people will support us by shopping locally this Christmas.”
